I think I need to take care of myself more often.
Get my eyebrows done when I feel that they need it, instead of waiting 3 years like I did this time. Get my roots touched up and my hair trimmed when I feel that it’s time, instead of waiting a whole year like I’ve done every year for the past 6 years. Get out of the house once a week, instead for waiting so long that I don’t feel like I even know how to be normal around people like I’ve done way too often since I had my first baby. Go to the thrift store and get new clothes that make me feel good about myself, instead of wearing the same breast milk and spit-up stained tshirts and shorts year after year that make me feel like a total bum.
I have a hard time justifying why I need to take time for myself and why I need to take care of myself. My excuse this time was that I’m getting married in 12 days and those pictures are forever. I want to look and feel my best. I want those chapel doors to open and Cole see me and think “WOW!”
But I’ve recently started my self love journey and after noticing how confident I feel when I take care of myself, how happy I feel when I take care of myself, how at peace I feel when I take care of myself, I have realized that I need to do this more often. Not only to be the best version of me for myself, but also the best version of me for my five children. Children learn by example, and if they grew up to feel how I felt inside 2 months ago, I would be so so so sad.
My goal for myself this year is to grow and build my inner self to feel how I want them to feel. And when you feel good on the inside, you look good on the outside. Self care is so important, y’all. Not just for us, but for them too.
